Science Fair Themed Fabric!

I've been really enjoying learning stuff about design lately, so I thought I start getting back into using spoonflower to dream of fabric designing. They have a themed contest every week, which is great, because themes can provide a launching point for inspiration when the creativity is less than forthcoming. This week's theme is "Science Fair," and this is what I came up with!

I'm pretty keen on it. Science and me don't have a very close relationship, but that wasn't always the case. Back in grade-school, when 'science' was all about magnets and potato-powered light bulbs, I actually placed in my school science fair and took my skills to the big-time (big-time being the 1992 regional science fair in Whitehorse). I think I got a participation ribbon or something at regionals, but I did get to go to the movie theatre without my parents (Straight Talk with Dolly Parton--oh yeah!). And I got to go to McDonalds, which was a kind of a huge deal for a fast-food deprived kid growing up in Dease Lake, BC (population 800).

Back to fabric. You can check out the rest of the science fair themed fabrics here! And even vote, if you're so inclined.

  1. You make me smile. 1) The theme is awesome. I am kind of in love with that. 2) Whitehorse. Dease Lake. You're so Northern. Also? '92. Yikes - right!? Holy moly....
