Confessions of a Fatty (in a Cat Dress)

I've been dreaming of this dress for a really long time. I bought the Washi Dress Expansion Pack the moment it came out, specifically so that I could put this flamboyant cat fabric to work. Have I mentioned I'm a bit of a cat fanatic?

The original Washi Dress, from Made By Rae, is pretty much my uniform, because it's cute AND comfy. This scarfy bow thing just allows me to add another washi dress into my rotation whilst disguising the fact that I pretty much only wear one type of dress.

Cute and comfy is my combo-platter of choice these days. I've packed on a rather impressive amount of weight in the last few years, and learned that pants without elastic waistbands are not very friendly to fat people. To be fair, I didn't make a serious quest out of finding jeans that are comfy and cute, because I discovered tights and dresses early on, and I promptly deleted pants from my wardrobe.

Fat isn't for everyone, but I'm mostly comfortable with it. I mean, thinking back on my leaner years, I never ever thought of myself as thin. I was always always striving for a different body type, no matter how fabulous I looked. (And judging by old photographs, I was pretty smokin' hot, you guys). Somewhere along the way, I realized that having a hot bod and having peace of mind are not directly related for me. I think that's different for everybody. And I like to think that's ok (though I'll tell you right now, I haven't come across a lot of health professionals who would agree!).

Sewing (and/or other forms of craftiness) is something that gives me peace of mind and happy times. So, sewing a fat-dress with cats all over it is good medicine, as far as I'm concerned!

One more confession: 'hands on my hips' is my favorite pose because I like having my hard-core sewing tattoo in every shot.

  2. I am totally obsessed with the washi dress look but wonder if it will fit my small frame? From reviews I have read only, it suits curvier bodies better. I love the bow you added!
