Sharpie Mugs

I had to try out this sharpie mug DIY for myself.

It was so much fun, I don't know if I can stop. It's a good thing that I don't have any more blank ceramics in the house for now. I have a million ideas!

Just draw on some porcelain, pop it in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 min, and then let them cool off all the way before using them or washing them. Do it! Don't use the dishwasher though. These babies are hand wash only, otherwise they'd just be too good to be true, right!

  1. Two things.
    1. You are adorable. And that's coming from a heterosexual male who hesitates to use words like that.
    2. Let me know when you've finished your grad degree and decide to make that line of gents' house slippers we talked about before.

  2. Thanks for checking out my blog! I'll definitely let you know about the gents' slippers. I may even have to ask you to be my product tester . . . ?

  3. actually sharpie mugs *are* usually dishwasher safe - have you tried 'em in the dishwasher? (if yours aren't, maybe you're not cookin' 'em on a high enough temperature?)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your designs tho, they're gorgeous. Have you tried metallic markers on darker coloured ceramics? (I haven't tried my gold marker yet, but so far silver, green and purple metallics all fared wonderfully. Red, sadly, faded to a "plain" silver.)

  4. Made my kids these for Christmas, they do not hold up. (Hand washed only)

    1. Sorry to hear that :( Everyone seems to get a different result. A friend of mine has one that her husband made for her anniversary and it's been around for years. Mine didn't last forever, but they held up for a good long time. Maybe it has to do with the backing time or temperature? If anyone figures out the key to making them last, let me know!
